Tim Smith

Tim Smith is a passionate ‘whisky nut’ whose interest in the subject made him well aware of the colourful whisky entrepreneur Joe Hobbs, and that a proper biography of Joe’s life had yet to be written. Tim made researching and writing Joe’s biography the focus for his energies as he transitioned into retirement after a successful career in the shipping industry. In collaboration with Joe’s family in the UK and Canada, Tim’s detailed research has enabled him to unearth, validate and organise a wealth of previously unseen material about Joe Hobbs’ life, now transformed into a compelling history of Joe’s life and achievements.

Tim Smith is 60 years old, and married to Helen, a doctor. The couple have four grown up children and live in Hong Kong.
